Westview was the host of the FIA Grade 4-5 Competition for the schools of the Firgrove Cluster. The first half of the cluster participated in the FIA activities on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Participating schools included Yorkwoods, Blacksmith, Firgrove, Shoreham and Topcliff. The competition ran smoothly, but because of time constraints, athletes competed in 3 less events, making the fight for the win even more intense. Top finishing belonged to Firgrove with a big lead of their combined boys' and girls' team score of 714 points. There was a tie for second place which went to Yorkwoods and Topcliff who each earned a cummulative score of 684 points. Third place went to Shoreham with 676 point and fourth place went to Blacksmith with 638 points combined between their boys and girls team.
Back again at Westview, the second half of schools in the Firgrove Cluster came out to compete on Thursday December 11, 2008. The IFTA team was faced with multiple challenges on this day including time constraints and venue confusion due to a basketball tournament taking place on the same day. Despite these obstacles, the IFTA team, along with Westview's leadership students and staff, were able to pull off the event with success. Schools participating in this competition were Chalkfarm, Lamberton, Stanley and Rockford. First place finishing went to the team from Lamberton with a combined score of 776 points. Second place went to the girls and boys' team from Stanley with a score of 758 points. And with only 10 points separating 2nd and 3rd place, there was a tie between the teams from Chalkfarm and Rockford with 3rd place with 748 points each.
