SoGo Active IFTA "Sportshall" Competition
Yesterday saw the first SoGo Active competition take place at L’Amoreaux High School. Six schools fielded teams of sixteen athletes for some exciting and noisy action in the gymnasium.
The Teams:
Ajax High School (Orange)
L’Amoreaux C.I. (Blue)
Anderson C.V.I (Green)
Dr. FJ Donevan C.I. (Purple)
Mary Ward C.S (Red)
Victoria Park C.I. (Yellow)
The overall winners were Ajax High with 766 points, L’Amoreaux came 2nd with 736 and Mary Ward 3rd with 704. SoGo provided some great prizes and as a direct result of the new SoGo sponsorship Ajax took home a voucher for $500.00!
Ontario Sogo Active Provincial Coordinator, Megan Sutherland explains: The funding can go towards equipment, nutrition and coaching/instructing costs for youth groups to engage in physical activities of their choice. It is up to the team members and school representatives to determine how they plan to spend the funds. To be eligible, schools must register as a Community Host and youth as Sogo Active participants. The Sogo Active program looks to assist youth groups (age 13-19) in overcoming barriers to activity. For more information about the Sogo Active program, please contact Megan at megan@motivatecanada.ca
IFTA Operations manger Milt Ottey said “We love this! Now SoGo are sponsoring the competitions it's good for everyone, we love organizing these events but the truth is it’s very difficult for our organization to find funds to put them on. With SoGo joining us it means that we can do more of them and we encourage our school participants to sign up for this fantastic program!”
So there you have it if you want an exciting SoGo competition in your area just go to www.sogoactive.com sign up and be part of the organizing process, you can make it happen!
Bruce from at L’Amoreaux sent IFTA a note saying: “Just a big thank you for organizing and running today’s successful event at L’Amoreaux. There were plenty of smiles and lots of laughter along with some reasonably good athletic prowess. Your staff were their usual competent and friendly selves. It was good to see all the logos from your new sponsor—Sogo Active, and even nicer to win some money for equipment in the school. Please forward our thanks on to them, and I will encourage our students to sign up with them.
Again, Thanks!”
